Grand Island – The Rainwater Basin Joint Venture will host its 18th annual Informational Seminar on Wednesday, February 6 at the Hastings Hotel and Convention Center, 2205 Osborne Drive East, in Hastings. The one-day seminar is an opportunity for landowners, agriculture producers, natural resource professionals, and other interested individuals to learn about conservation issues, research, and habitat programs in the Rainwater Basin region.
This year’s plenary speaker is photographer and author Michael Forsberg, whose work has captured the wildlife spectacles of the Rainwater Basin, Platte River, and the Great Plains. Other presentation topics will include the Working Lands Initiative, management of public wetlands, ring-necked pheasant habitat, and new DEQ regulations on herbicide application on Rainwater Basin wetlands. Hastings attorney Matthew Baack will discuss tax deferred real estate exchanges. In addition, several Rainwater Basin landowners who have participated in conservation programs will discuss their experiences. See the full agenda here: RWBJV 2013 seminar flyer.
Seminar registration is open to the public. To register, please send an e-mail by January 31 to Shanda Spurgeon at email@example.com; include name, organization, and mailing address. Or phone 402-463-6771 ext. 3. A $25 fee, payable at the door, covers all sessions, snacks, and a buffet lunch.
